  Economists say Canada is back into recession, with no growth in first half of this year. Bank of Canada is expected to raise interest rates in Sept.       

FEDERAL ELECTION 2015: 78-day campaign; election is October 19. Sooke and Colwood are now in Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke (formerly Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca). Candidates are incumbent Randall Garrison, MP (NDP); Frances Litman (Green); Shari Lukens (Conservative); David Merner (Liberal); and Josh Steffler (Libertarian).   Langford is now in new riding of Cowichan-Malahat-Langford which includes Duncan, Lake Cowichan, Highlands, Langford. Candidates are Paul Cortens (Libertarian); Fran Hunt-Jinnouchi (Green); Alistair MacGregor (NDP); and Maria Manna (Liberal).

     Construction of Hwy1/McKenzie-Admirals interchange and Westshore Parkway Extension to begin later in 2016 and take 2 years to complete. Construction of new athletic training facility in Langford to begin in 2016
